Lamothe sinks clutch 3-pointer, totals 21 points to guide North Carolina A&T past Elon 60-59

    ELON, N.C. — Jahnathan Lamothe was instrumental for North Carolina A&T, scoring 21 points and sealing the game with a crucial three-pointer in the final seconds, leading to a tight 60-59 victory over Elon on Thursday evening.

    In addition to his scoring prowess, Lamothe contributed significantly on the boards with six rebounds and displayed defensive skills with five steals, helping the Aggies improve their season record to 5-21 overall and 1-12 in the Coastal Athletic Association. Nikolaos Chitikoudis also had a standout performance, notching 19 points and collecting nine rebounds. Camian Shell rounded out a strong team effort with 10 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. This win marked a much-needed end to the Aggies’ troubling 11-game losing streak.

    On the opposing side, TJ Simpkins emerged as the leading scorer for the Phoenix, finishing with 14 points and two steals. His teammate TK Simpkins contributed 11 points, while Matthew Van Komen added depth with 10 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks. The Phoenix’s record stands at 15-11 overall and 6-7 in their conference play.

    Looking ahead, both teams are preparing for their next matchups on Saturday. North Carolina A&T will face Charleston at home, whereas Elon will hit the road to challenge UNC Wilmington.
