The announcement was made on Thursday, revealing that Keenen Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans Sr., Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Kim Wayans, and Damon Wayans Jr. will be honored with induction into the NAACP Awards’ Hall of Fame.
The Wayans’ impressive portfolio includes the influential sketch comedy show “In Living Color,” launched by Keenen Ivory Wayans in 1990, and Damon Wayans’ starring role in the 1995 comedy “Major Payne.” Notably, Keenen also directed the parody film “Scary Movie” in 2000, a project co-written by his brothers Marlon and Shawn Wayans, who further collaborated on the 2004 film “White Chicks.” Currently, father-and-son team Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. are part of the CBS sitcom “Poppa’s House.”
Damon Wayans Jr. has earned acclaim for his roles in hit comedies like “Happy Endings” and “New Girl.” Additionally, Kim Wayans has been recognized for her performance in the 2011 film “Pariah,” showcasing her talents as a comedian, actress, and director. “Poppa’s House” has received a nomination for an NAACP Award, along with Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. for their performances on the show. Moreover, Marlon Wayans is nominated for his guest role on “Bel-Air,” available on Peacock.
