WASHINGTON — VCU triumphed over George Washington with a score of 80-72 on Wednesday evening, bolstered by Jack Clark’s 18-point performance.
Clark contributed not only in scoring but also collected nine rebounds for the Rams, who now hold a record of 20 wins and 5 losses, with a 10-2 standing in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Zeb Jackson was impactful on the court as well, hitting 3 of 5 shots from the field, including a perfect 3 for 3 from long distance. He finished the game with 15 points after going 6 for 7 from the free-throw line. Additionally, Joe Bamisile recorded 14 points, making 5 of his 13 attempts from the floor, including 2 of 7 from the three-point region.
On the opposing side, the Revolutionaries’ scoring leader was Trey Autry, who managed to put up 23 points alongside two steals. Rafael Castro also had a notable performance, contributing 20 points to his team’s tally, along with four assists and three steals.
In the first half, Clark put up 10 points, yet VCU headed into the locker room at halftime down by a point, trailing 36-35. The second half saw a shift in momentum as VCU quickly turned a slight advantage into a more comfortable nine-point lead after launching a 7-0 scoring spree, pushing the game to 60-51 with just under 10 minutes remaining. Jackson shone in the latter half, netting 13 points to help seal the victory.
