VALPARAISO, Ind. — In an impressive display of scoring, Cooper Schwieger led Valparaiso to a commanding 101-86 victory over Belmont on Wednesday evening, contributing 27 points to the Beacons’ success.
Schwieger not only showcased his scoring ability but also grabbed 13 rebounds and registered three blocks, playing a crucial role in the team’s performance. All Wright had a significant impact as well, scoring 20 points with a shooting percentage of 6 for 14, including 3 for 7 from beyond the arc, and maintained a perfect record at the free-throw line, finishing 5 for 5. Jefferson De La Crus Monegro added to the team’s efforts with 19 points, shooting 6 for 10 from the field, 1 for 3 from three-point territory, and also going 6 for 6 at the line. This victory marked an end to a challenging nine-game losing streak for the Beacons.
On the other hand, Jonathan Pierre was the standout for the Bruins, scoring 22 points in the matchup. Belmont also saw Tyler Lundblade contribute 21 points and make two steals, while Isaiah Walker added 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Looking ahead, Valparaiso is set to face Evansville on the road this coming Sunday, while Belmont will head to Southern Illinois for their game on Saturday.
