Sedona Prince, a player on the TCU basketball team, recently found herself at the center of a reported physical confrontation with a former partner. Last month, both women lodged police reports claiming they were subjected to assault.

Prince’s lawyer, A. Boone Almanza, confirmed that TCU campus police intervened on January 18 following a disturbance complaint placed by Prince about an incident at her off-campus residence. Almanza pointed out that, as of now, no formal charges have been made against either party involved.

Recent reports, including one from The Washington Post, have surfaced detailing additional allegations of abuse against Prince. These allegations include claims from a past girlfriend from the previous year, which led to a considerable backlash on social media and a petition urging the removal of Prince from the TCU basketball roster.

The 24-year-old athlete has vehemently denied all claims against her through her legal representative, asserting that she has never committed any form of abuse—be it physical, emotional, or mental. Almanza stated, “Unfortunately, others have decided to use Sedona as a launch point for their careers,” indicating that he believes the allegations are unfounded.

Currently enjoying her seventh and final year of eligibility in college basketball, Prince has garnered attention for her activism in the sport. During the 2021 NCAA Tournament bubble, she voiced her concerns over gender equity regarding the treatment of men’s and women’s teams, subsequently contributing to an influential antitrust case that aims to secure financial compensation for college athletes.

This season, Prince has been a standout with the No. 11 TCU team, averaging an impressive 17.6 points, nine rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game as the Horned Frogs maintain a strong record of 23 wins and 3 losses. Their next match is scheduled against Arizona on Sunday.
