Furman defeats Mercer 96-72 as House scores 26 points

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Tom House put on a remarkable performance for Furman, scoring 26 points and leading the team to a commanding 96-72 victory over Mercer on Wednesday evening.

House also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down seven rebounds for the Paladins, who now hold a record of 19-7 overall and 7-6 in the Southern Conference. Nick Anderson was another key player for Furman, shooting 54.5% from the field, including an impressive 66.7% from beyond the arc, finishing with 18 points. Ben Vanderwal also made his mark, going a perfect 3 for 3 from the floor and 5 for 6 from the free-throw line, which earned him 12 points in the contest.

On the side of Mercer, the Bears struggled but found some bright spots. Ahmad Robinson was the standout player, finishing with 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Tyler Johnson supported the team’s effort by adding 16 points, while Brady Shoulders chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds as well.

Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to play again on Saturday. Furman is set to host UNC Greensboro, while Mercer will face off against VMI in their home arena.
