ATLANTA — In a competitive matchup on Wednesday night, Georgia Tech triumphed over Stanford, securing a 60-52 victory. Naithan George was a standout performer for the Yellow Jackets, contributing 22 points, along with seven rebounds and five assists. His efforts were complemented by Baye Ndongo, who recorded a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
George played a crucial role in expanding Georgia Tech’s lead in the second half, nailing a three-pointer that pushed the score to 47-28 with 12:10 remaining. Although the Yellow Jackets struggled offensively, managing only three field goals after that point, their efficiency at the free-throw line allowed them to maintain a lead of at least seven points in the closing minutes, making seven free throws in the last 3:02 of the game.
Duncan Powell also made his mark with 10 points and seven rebounds, bolstering Georgia Tech’s performance. This win improved the team’s record to 12-13 overall and 6-8 in the ACC, while it marked their fourth victory in the last six games. In contrast, Stanford was led in scoring by Jaylen Blakes, who was the only player to reach double figures with 10 points. Maxime Raynaud, who typically averages a team-high 20.4 points per game, struggled significantly, only managing eight points on 4-of-13 shooting and failing to connect on any of his six attempts from beyond the arc.
In the first half, Powell and Ndongo both scored effectively, combining for 21 points and helping to establish a significant 35-20 lead at halftime. The Cardinal found it difficult to shoot, ending the period with just 23.3% from the field, making only seven field goals—equal to the total scored by Ndongo and Powell combined. Additionally, Georgia Tech dominated the boards with a 27-15 rebounding advantage over Stanford.
Up next, Georgia Tech is set to host California on Saturday, while Stanford will face a challenging away game against No. 3 Duke.
