Surprise, Arizona — Veteran pitcher JT Chargois has signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers ahead of their initial spring training practice on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old right-handed reliever had a mixed season last year, splitting his time between the Miami Marlins and the Seattle Mariners. He achieved a record of 3-1 and posted an impressive 2.23 ERA across 36 appearances. His tenure included 15 games with the Marlins and 21 games after being traded to the Mariners before the deadline. Chargois faced challenges at the beginning of the previous season, starting on the injured list due to neck spasms, which delayed his debut until June 12.
Throughout his career, Chargois has maintained a respectable 3.35 ERA with a record of 16 wins and 7 losses over the course of 244 games in Major League Baseball. He has played for teams including the Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Miami Marlins. Chargois marked his Major League debut with the Twins back in 2016, beginning a journey that has spanned several teams and showcased his resilience as a player.
