LOS ANGELES — In a compelling matchup on Tuesday night, Chibuzo Agbo made a significant impact by scoring 21 points, including a remarkable seven 3-pointers, while Desmond Claude contributed 16 points as USC secured a decisive 92-67 victory over Penn State.
USC (14-10, 6-7 Big Ten) showcased an impressive shooting performance, hitting 67.3% of their shots (33 for 49), with an exceptional 75% accuracy from beyond the arc (12 for 16). Additionally, they converted 82.4% (14 for 17) of their free throws, further cementing their dominance in the game.
Agbo’s prowess from long range was highlighted by his 7-for-9 performance, while Wesley Yates III and Josh Cohen also contributed significantly, adding 13 and 12 points, respectively.
For Penn State, Ace Baldwin Jr. registered 15 points, and Dominick Stewart came off the bench to add 13 points. Both D’Marco Dunn and Zach Hicks chipped in with 10 points each.
The Trojans took control in the first half, with Yates knocking down a three-pointer at the 9:47 mark, which established USC’s first double-digit lead at 24-13. Although Penn State fought back, finding their rhythm and narrowing the gap after trailing 31-14, they finished the half with a strong 17-9 run, closing the score at 40-31.
In the second half, after Claude made one of two free throws at the 16:40 mark, USC extended their lead to 49-39 and maintained a double-digit advantage for the remainder of the contest.
Penn State (13-12, 3-11) is currently struggling with six consecutive losses and will attempt to bounce back as they prepare to face Washington on Saturday.
Meanwhile, USC ended a two-game losing streak and is looking ahead to their next matchup against Minnesota, also scheduled for Saturday.
