RICHMOND, Va. — In an exciting showdown on Tuesday night, Loyola Chicago triumphed over Richmond with a final score of 87-80, thanks in part to stellar performances from Jayden Dawson and Sheldon Edwards. Dawson led the team with 24 points, while Edwards contributed an additional 12 points during the crucial overtime period.
With just 41 seconds remaining in regulation, Dawson sunk a pivotal 3-pointer that leveled the game at 65-65, setting the stage for the overtime battle. Throughout the game, Dawson showcased his shooting skills, hitting 6 of his 14 attempts overall and finishing a perfect 6 for 6 from the charity stripe. His 3-point shooting was particularly impressive, with 6 baskets made out of 13 attempts. Edwards also had a significant impact on the game, scoring 21 points while shooting 7 for 18, which included 7 successful 3-point shots out of 16 attempts. Des Watson added further support by contributing 19 points, making 7 of 14 attempts from the floor, including 3 from long range, and going 2 for 3 at the free-throw line.
