LINCOLN, Neb. — Brice Williams delivered an impressive performance, scoring 24 points and securing 10 rebounds as Nebraska staged a comeback from a deficit of eight points in the second half to claim a 79-71 victory over Ohio State on Sunday. This win marks Nebraska’s fourth consecutive triumph, adding to their recent achievements, which include victories against ranked teams.

Nebraska, now standing at 16-8 overall and 6-7 in the conference, had previously faced off against ranked opponents, such as beating then-No. 18 Illinois and securing wins during a West Coast road trip against Washington and then-No. 16 Oregon.

On the other hand, Ohio State entered the matchup with a record of 14-10 and also 6-7 in the league, riding a wave of confidence after defeating Illinois. The Buckeyes held a narrow lead at halftime, 39-34, thanks to their solid play leading up to the game.

Micah Parrish extended Ohio State’s lead to eight points with a three-pointer early in the second half. However, Nebraska quickly responded through Juwan Gary, who hit a three-pointer and followed it with a jumper. Berke Buyuktuncel then contributed another three-pointer, allowing the Cornhuskers to tie the game at 42 within the first few minutes of play.

As the game progressed, Connor Essegian helped Nebraska level the score at 48-48, and Andrew Morgan capitalized on a defensive play, resulting in a steal from Aaron Bradshaw, enabling him to score on a back-door layup, putting Nebraska ahead with just under 10 minutes remaining.

Williams showcased his scoring efficiency, going 9 for 16 from the field despite struggling with three-pointers, where he made only 1 of 6 attempts. His free throw shooting was flawless at 5 for 5, in addition to providing four assists. Juwan Gary supported the team with 19 points, while Buyuktuncel added 15 points along with six rebounds and three assists.

For Ohio State, Parrish emerged as the standout performer, leading the way with a career-high 30 points on an efficient 11 of 21 shooting, which included five three-pointers made from 12 attempts. Freshman John Mobley Jr. also had a notable contribution with 21 points, making 5 of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc.

Looking ahead, Ohio State will host Washington on Wednesday, while Nebraska will welcome No. 18 Maryland on Thursday.
