On Sunday, Kara Dunn led the No. 17 Georgia Tech women’s basketball team to a commanding 71-51 victory over Boston College, scoring 23 points. Zoesha Smith contributed a double-double, adding 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. The win marks Georgia Tech’s third consecutive victory, improving their record to 20-4 overall and 8-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). They’ve now secured five wins in their last six games, with their only defeat during that stretch coming against ranked opponent No. 14 Duke.

The Yellow Jackets established dominance early in the game, building a substantial lead of 19-6 by the end of the first quarter. They expanded their advantage to 36-15 by halftime thanks to Dunn’s explosive first-half performance, where she scored nine of the team’s points in the opening period. The trend continued into the second half, as Morgan and Smith contributed early baskets to stretch the lead to 45-17. Boston College found their rhythm and rallied at the end of the third quarter, closing the gap with a 21-8 run that left the score at 53-38 heading into the final quarter.

Dunn showcased an impressive shooting display, going 3 for 6 from three-point range and hitting all six of her free throws while also contributing five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Morgan tallied 13 points along with six assists. Georgia Tech exhibited solid offensive performance with a shooting percentage of 49.1%, making 27 of their 55 attempts from the field, although they struggled from behind the arc, hitting just four of their 15 attempts.

On the other hand, Boston College, which has struggled recently with a record of 13-13 and 4-9 in the ACC, fell short again, making only 21 of 69 shots (30.4%) from the floor, including a poor 3 out of 21 from three-point territory. They were also outmatched on the boards, losing the rebounding battle 42-33. T’yana Todd led the Eagles in scoring with 19 points, while Dontavia Waggoner contributed 12 points.

Looking ahead, Georgia Tech will conclude their two-game road trip on Thursday against Clemson, while Boston College prepares for a cross-country trip to face No. 21 California on the same day.
