CORVALLIS, Ore. — Augustas Marciulionis had an impressive performance, scoring 18 points as Saint Mary’s claimed a 63-49 victory over Oregon State on Saturday evening.
Marciulionis didn’t just stop at scoring; he also recorded six rebounds, 10 assists, and four steals, significantly contributing to the success of the Gaels (21-4, 11-1 in West Coast Conference play). Mitchell Saxen provided solid support with 15 points, showcasing an efficient shooting night with six out of eight successful attempts from the field, alongside three out of seven from the free-throw line and adding seven rebounds to his tally. Harry Wessels also played a key role, scoring 12 points with an impressive 6 for 9 shooting accuracy.
The Beavers (17-8, 7-5) were led in scoring by Isaiah Sy, who managed 10 points. Josiah Lake and Nate Kingz contributed to the scoreboard as well, both finishing with seven points, with Kingz adding two crucial blocks to his performance.
Saint Mary’s seized control of the match early, taking the lead with 17:08 left in the first half and maintaining that advantage throughout. Marciulionis was instrumental in this period, leading the team with 16 points and helping establish a 30-19 lead at halftime. In the second half, Saint Mary’s continued their strong performance, outscoring Oregon State by three points, with Mikey Lewis stepping up to score the most points for the Gaels in the latter half with nine.
Looking ahead, Saint Mary’s is set to face Santa Clara at home on Tuesday, while Oregon State will be on the road, facing off against Portland on Thursday.
