LONG BEACH, Calif. — In a thrilling encounter on Saturday evening, Marcus Adams Jr. led the Cal State Northridge Matadors to a narrow victory over Long Beach State, finishing the game with 25 points and securing a vital 81-80 win.
Adams demonstrated his all-around skills by contributing seven rebounds, solidifying his impact on the game. His teammates also stepped up, with Keonte Jones delivering an impressive performance that included 19 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Additionally, Scotty Washington chipped in with 12 points to aid in the win.
On the opposing side, the Long Beach State Beach were led by Devin Askew, who put up a commendable 22 points alongside 11 assists and seven rebounds. Unfortunately, the loss marked their eighth consecutive defeat, a tough stretch for the team. TJ Wainwright contributed 16 points and four assists, while Kam Martin added 10 points to the scoreboard.
The victory improved Cal State Northridge’s record to 17-7 overall and 9-4 in the Big West Conference, while Long Beach State fell to 7-18 with a conference record of 3-10.
