JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a competitive matchup on Saturday night, Stephon Payne III led the way with an impressive 20 points, helping the Jacksonville Dolphins secure a 73-64 victory over the Bellarmine Knights.
Payne demonstrated exceptional shooting accuracy, making 8 of his 9 attempts from the floor and successfully hitting all four of his free-throw attempts. His outstanding performance aided the Dolphins, who now sit at 15 wins and 9 losses overall, and 9 wins against 3 losses within the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Joining him in the scoring effort was Zimi Nwokeji, who contributed 14 points with a precise shooting display of 5 for 8, including an impressive 4 for 6 from beyond the three-point line. Chris Arias also made his mark, finishing with 12 points after connecting on 3 of his 9 attempts, including a pair of three-pointers, and capitalizing on all four of his free-throw shots.
On the opposing side, Tyler Doyle stood out for the Knights, netting 17 points while facilitating the game with five assists and recording three steals. Jack Karasinski supported the effort with 12 points, while Grant Whitaker added nine points to the tally. Unfortunately for Bellarmine, this latest defeat marks their 15th consecutive loss, leaving them with a challenging season record of 3 wins and 22 losses, and yet to achieve a win in the conference at 0-12.
