CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — In an impressive display of skill, Tate McCubbin led Austin Peay to a resounding 90-67 triumph over Central Arkansas on Saturday evening, scoring a remarkable 27 points.
McCubbin’s performance also included four steals, showcasing his defensive prowess for the Governors, who now boast a record of 10 wins and 15 losses, with a conference standing of 5-7 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Isaac Haney made significant contributions as well, hitting 7 of his 14 attempts from the field and sinking 6 of 13 from beyond the arc to tally 20 points.
LJ Thomas added to the team effort with 10 points, having successfully shot 4 out of 10 and managing one successful 3-point basket from three attempts.
In addition to his scoring, Thomas demonstrated versatility by grabbing six rebounds and dishing out 11 assists.
For Central Arkansas, Nehemiah Turner emerged as a standout player with a noteworthy performance of 23 points, complemented by six rebounds and four assists.
The Bears, currently holding a 6-19 record with a 2-10 mark in the conference, also received support from Michael Evbagharu, who contributed nine points and eight rebounds, while Ben Fox chipped in with another nine points.
Both teams are scheduled to be back in action on Thursday. Austin Peay will host Florida Gulf Coast University, and Central Arkansas will face Jacksonville at home.
