Towson wins against Monmouth with a score of 73-67

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. — In a closely contested matchup on Saturday night, Towson emerged victorious against Monmouth with a final score of 73-67.

Tyler Tejada led the Tigers with an impressive 17 points, shooting 6 of 12 from the field, which included an effective 3 for 6 performance from three-point range.

Dylan Williamson contributed significantly as well, totaling 14 points while making 5 of 12 attempts, four of which were three-pointers, in addition to grabbing five rebounds.

Christian May also made a notable impact with 13 points, connecting on 5 of 10 shots, including one out of four from beyond the arc.

With this victory, the Tigers extended their winning streak to an impressive 10 games, showcasing their strong performance in the Coastal Athletic Association with a record of 16-9 overall and 11-1 in conference play.

Abdi Bashir Jr. was a standout for Monmouth, scoring 19 points, while his teammate Madison Durr added 17 points.

Jack Collins also made his presence felt by scoring 10 points and contributing three steals in the game for the Hawks, who now hold a record of 8-17 overall and 6-6 in conference play.

Tejada was instrumental in the first half, netting 10 points and helping Towson secure a 38-33 lead at halftime.

The Tigers intensified their efforts in the second half, going on a 7-0 run that transformed a slender four-point lead into a comfortable 11-point advantage at 66-55 with just 2:59 remaining in the game.

Tomiwa Sulaiman also played a key role, contributing eight points in the second half of the contest, helping his team secure the win.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again on Thursday, with Towson ready to take on Delaware at home, while Monmouth will travel to face Stony Brook.
