Murray State secured a solid 74-56 win over Valparaiso on Saturday evening, with players Nick Ellington, AJ Ferguson, and Jacobi Wood each contributing 17 points to the team’s success.

Ellington also made a significant impact on the boards, collecting 10 rebounds for the Racers, who are now 12-13 overall and hold a 6-8 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. Ferguson showcased an effective shooting performance, going 7 for 12 from the field, including hitting 3 out of 6 attempts from beyond the arc, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Wood added to the effort by shooting 5 of 13 overall and was particularly sharp from long range, sinking 4 of his 9 three-point attempts, and converting 3 out of 4 free throws.

For Valparaiso, Jefferson Monegro emerged as the top scorer, recording 22 points in the game. Cooper Schwieger contributed significantly as well, finishing the night with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. All Wright added seven points to the Beacons’ score. Unfortunately for Valparaiso, this loss extended their current losing streak to nine games, leaving them with a record of 10-15 and 3-11 in conference play.

Looking ahead, Murray State will play their next game on Tuesday when they host UIC, whereas Valparaiso is set to welcome Belmont to their home court on Wednesday.
