BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In an exciting matchup, Matt Rogers contributed significantly to American University’s 78-75 triumph over Lehigh in overtime on Saturday, scoring six of his total 27 points during the extra period.
Elijah Stephens opened the overtime scoring with a jumper just six seconds into play, which was quickly followed by two free throws and a basket from Rogers. This solid performance secured a lead for the Eagles, who maintained it for the last five minutes of the game.
Rogers had an impressive shooting night, hitting 11 of 18 shots from the field and going 5 for 7 at the free-throw line for the Eagles, who now hold a record of 15-10 and stand at 9-3 in the Patriot League. Elijah Stephens also had a notable game, finishing with 23 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while Colin Smalls added nine points to the team’s efforts.
On the opposing side, the Mountain Hawks, currently 9-14 overall and 4-8 in the league, were led by Tyler Whitney-Sidney, who scored 19 points. Joshua Ingram made significant contributions as well, netting 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Hank Alvey added 12 points to the score.
