MUNCIE, Ind. — In a thrilling encounter on Saturday, Mickey Pearson Jr. led the way for Ball State, scoring 21 points as they narrowly defeated Southern Miss with a final score of 77-76.

Pearson’s performance was complemented by his five rebounds, showcasing his all-around contribution to the Cardinals’ success, who now hold a record of 11-12 overall and 4-6 in the Mid-American Conference. Payton Sparks also had a noteworthy outing, contributing 13 points while displaying accuracy from the field with 4 of 8 shooting and perfect from the free-throw line at 5 for 5. Additionally, Sparks was active on the boards, pulling down 12 rebounds. Ethan Brittain-Watts added to the score tally with 10 points, shooting 4 for 9 from the field, including two three-pointers.

On the opposing side, Denijay Harris was the standout performer for the Golden Eagles, finishing the game with an impressive 23 points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks.
