Moscow witnessed a significant incident on Saturday when a fire broke out in a former electrical plant, now repurposed for studios and creative workshops. According to Russian state media reports, at least eight individuals suffered injuries during the blaze, with three of them needing to be admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations shared updates via Telegram, indicating that more than 90 individuals were rescued from the upper levels of the building, while over 120 managed to escape without assistance.
The fire reportedly erupted on the third and fourth floors of the Elektrozavod structure, which is a five-story administrative edifice. Initial investigations pointed towards potential faulty electrical wiring as the cause, which was exacerbated by the presence of wooden flooring that facilitated the rapid spread of the flames.
A representative from the Ministry of Emergency Situations described the situation, stating that black smoke was emanating from the affected floors. Meanwhile, the Baza Telegram channel, known for its proximity to law enforcement, reported that 13 people experienced smoke inhalation and were taken to the hospital, although this information awaits independent verification.
