BOISE, Idaho — In a commanding performance, Boise State triumphed over San Jose State with a dominant scoreline of 79-52 on Friday night, thanks largely to the impressive play of Tyson Degenhart, who tallied 22 points.
Degenhart contributed significantly to the Broncos’ effort, also grabbing six rebounds to support the team’s performance. The Broncos, sporting a record of 17 wins and 7 losses with a 9-4 standing in the Mountain West Conference, saw Alvaro Cardenas stepping up with 16 points. Cardenas demonstrated efficient shooting, hitting 5 of his 9 attempts from the field, including hitting 2 of his 5 shots from behind the arc, while also going 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. In addition, he collected six rebounds and provided nine assists to help steer the team. Emmanuel Ugbo also made a notable contribution, putting up 12 points and shooting 5 of 8 from the floor.
For the Spartans, who now hold a record of 12 wins and 13 losses along with 5 wins and 8 losses in conference play, Latrell Davis emerged with 14 points. He was accompanied by Josh Uduje, who added eight points to the score. Robert Vaihola also made his presence felt with six points and seven rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide for San Jose State.
Boise State established their lead early in the game, pulling ahead at 12:13 in the first half, a lead they maintained throughout the contest. They entered halftime with a solid advantage of 37-25, with Degenhart contributing 10 of those points before the break. The Broncos continued to increase their cushion during the second half, reaching a high point of 72-48, highlighted by a vigorous 10-2 scoring run. Degenhart led the charge once again, scoring 12 points in the second half alone.
Both squads are set to face San Diego State next, with Boise State traveling for their matchup on Saturday while San Jose State will play at home on Tuesday.
