PHILADELPHIA — In an impressive performance, Erik Reynolds II scored 25 points, leading Saint Joseph’s (PA) to a 76-63 victory over Saint Louis on Friday evening.
Reynolds showcased his shooting skills, making 10 of his 15 attempts, including 5 of 9 from three-point range, contributing significantly to the Hawks’ (14-9, 6-5 Atlantic 10 Conference) success. Xzayvier Brown also made notable contributions, finishing with 20 points, connecting on 7 of 14 shots from the floor, which included hitting 3 of 7 beyond the arc. Additionally, he went 3 for 3 from the free-throw line and collected nine rebounds alongside five assists. Rasheer Fleming added to the scoring with 11 points, but battled through a less efficient night, hitting 4 of 13 from the field and 1 of 3 from three-point territory.
For the Billikens (14-10, 7-4), Kobe Johnson was the standout performer with 21 points and two steals. Kalu Anya offered support with 11 points, while Robbie Avila contributed with nine points and a couple of steals.
Saint Joseph’s (PA) took control of the game just before halftime, securing a 32-30 edge with only nine seconds to spare. Reynolds led the attack with 17 points by the break. In the second half, Saint Joseph’s stretched their lead significantly, embarking on a 13-2 run that turned a narrow four-point lead into a comfortable 15-point cushion. The Hawks managed to boost their advantage by outscoring Saint Louis by 11 points in the second period, with Brown leading the charge, tallying 15 points during that stretch.
Looking ahead, Saint Joseph’s (PA) is set to face La Salle at home next Wednesday, while Saint Louis prepares to host George Mason on Tuesday.
