San Francisco secured a dramatic 65-64 win against Saint Mary’s on Thursday night, propelled by an impressive performance from Marcus Williams, who scored 16 points.
In addition to his scoring, Williams contributed five rebounds to help the Dons improve their record to 19 wins and 6 losses, with a conference tally of 9-3 in the West Coast Conference. Ryan Beasley also made a significant impact, netting 12 points with an efficient shooting performance of 4 for 8 from the field and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Carlton Linguard added to the Dons’ effort, scoring 11 points despite struggling with his shooting, going 5 for 13 and only managing to make one of five from three-point range.

On the other side, the Gaels, who fell to a record of 20-4 and 10-1 in conference play, were spearheaded by Augustas Marciulionis, who tallied 20 points along with seven assists and four steals. Mitchell Saxen provided a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Paulius Murauskas contributed 12 points and six boards. This defeat marked the end of a remarkable 10-game winning streak for Saint Mary’s.

The first half saw Beasley score six points, aiding San Francisco as they trailed 34-29 at halftime. In the second half, the Dons tightened their defense and outscored the Gaels by six points, thanks in large part to Williams who added 11 points after the break.

Mikey Lewis had a tough night, finishing scoreless after missing all four of his field goal attempts. His chance for a game-winning three-pointer fell short just as the final buzzer sounded.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to the court on Saturday; San Francisco will take on Loyola Marymount while Saint Mary’s will head to Oregon State for their next matchup.
