CHENEY, Wash. — In a thrilling matchup on Thursday night, Mason Williams led Eastern Washington to a narrow victory over Sacramento State with an impressive performance scoring 29 points. His pivotal moment came when he drained a three-pointer with just 2.7 seconds remaining, sealing the Eagles’ win at 83-80.

In the closing minutes of the game, Sacramento State’s Jacob Holt stepped up by converting two free throws to tie the game at 80 with 32 seconds on the clock. However, Williams struck back with a step-back three-pointer just before the shot clock expired, allowing the Eagles to take the lead for good. Bailey Nunn’s last-ditch attempt from 40 feet failed to find the mark as the buzzer sounded.

Williams not only showcased his scoring ability but also contributed with six assists, helping propel the Eagles to a record of 8-16 overall and 4-7 in the Big Sky Conference. Alongside him, Andrew Cook added 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field while also going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Emmett Marquardt played a vital role as well, scoring 12 points with an efficient 5-of-6 shooting.

The Hornets, now at a 6-17 overall record and 2-8 in the conference, were led by Jacob Holt, who turned in a standout performance with 32 points and seven rebounds.
