LYNCHBURG, Va. — In a commanding performance, Taelon Peter contributed 16 points off the bench, propelling Liberty to a decisive 77-53 victory over Louisiana Tech on Thursday evening.
Peter demonstrated impressive shooting accuracy, going 6 for 9 from the field, including 2 for 4 from long range, along with making 2 of 3 from the free-throw line as the Flames improved their record to 18-5 and 6-4 in Conference USA. Alongside him, Colin Porter added 15 points with a shooting line of 6 for 9, featuring 2 for 3 from three-point territory. Zach Cleveland also made a significant impact with 14 points, shooting 5 of 10 from the field while converting 4 of 6 free throws.
For the Bulldogs, Al Green topped the scoring charts with 18 points, while Sean Elkinton contributed 11 points to the effort. Porter was instrumental in the first half for Liberty, leading the team with 10 points and helping them build a solid 39-23 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Liberty maintained control, launching a critical 10-0 run that expanded their lead from 12 points to a commanding 22 points. Peter stood out during this stretch, scoring a team-high of 12 points in the second half.
Both teams are set to return to the court on Saturday, with Liberty slated to host Sam Houston, while Louisiana Tech is set to face Florida International.
