NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In an impressive performance, Aaron Nkrumah contributed significantly with 14 points during Tennessee State’s decisive 87-69 victory over Western Illinois on Thursday evening.
Nkrumah also recorded eight rebounds and provided seven assists, helping the Tigers improve their record to 11-13, with a conference standing of 7-6 in the Ohio Valley. Travis Harper II supported the effort, scoring 13 points while going 4 for 10 from the field, which included one 3-pointer from five attempts, and he also sank four of five free throws, alongside grabbing five rebounds. Justus Jackson also showcased his skills, netting 13 points with an efficient shooting display of 5 for 8, which included three successful 3-point shots out of six attempts.
For Western Illinois, Trey Deveaux emerged as the standout performer with 18 points, along with eight rebounds and two steals. Marko Maletic also made a notable contribution, adding 17 points and securing seven rebounds. Additionally, Julius Rollins managed to score 14 points. Unfortunately for the Leathernecks, this defeat marked their ninth consecutive loss in the season.
Both teams are set to return to the court on Saturday, with Tennessee State preparing to host Lindenwood, while Western Illinois will travel to face UT Martin.
