Hutson scores 20 as Northern Iowa defeats Missouri State 66-61

Springfield, Mo. — In an exciting matchup on Wednesday night, Jacob Hutson and Trey Campbell each contributed 20 points to lead the Northern Iowa Panthers to a 66-61 victory over Missouri State.
Hutson also recorded six rebounds in support of his team’s efforts, while Campbell was efficient on the court, shooting 7 of 14, including 4 for 9 from beyond the arc. Additionally, Ben Schwieger made his mark by scoring 12 points, shooting 3 of 9 overall and hitting 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.

For the Bears, Vincent Brady II and Michael Osei-Bonsu finished the game with 13 points each, while Dez White added 12 points to their tally.
Campbell was particularly impactful in the first half, scoring 11 points, leading Northern Iowa to a slim 34-30 advantage at halftime. The game intensified in the second half when both teams were tied at 47 before the Panthers surged ahead with a 7-0 run, establishing a 54-47 lead with just over 10 minutes left in the game. Hutson played a pivotal role in the second half, adding 12 points to solidify the team’s lead.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to face their next opponents on Saturday, with Northern Iowa scheduled to host Illinois State, while Missouri State is set to travel to face Belmont.
