AMHERST, Mass. — In a thrilling encounter on Tuesday night, Isaiah Swope delivered a crucial 3-pointer with just nine seconds left on the clock, leading Saint Louis to a close victory over UMass with a final score of 73-71.
Swope led the Billikens with 20 points, shooting 44% from the field and demonstrating range with four shots made from deep, going 4 for 13 from three-point territory. He was supported by Gibson Jimerson, who contributed 18 points and secured five rebounds. Kobe Johnson also made a solid impact, shooting 57% from the floor and finishing with 11 points, including hitting three out of four from beyond the arc.
The Minutemen’s offense was spearheaded by Jaylen Curry, recording 16 points along with two steals. Daniel Rivera provided a double-double, scoring 14 points while grabbing 14 rebounds. Furthermore, Daniel Hankins-Sanford matched Rivera’s scoring, also providing 14 points and adding seven rebounds to the team’s effort.
The game saw Saint Louis heading into halftime with a narrow advantage, as they led UMass 35-33. In the second half, Swope increased his offensive output, adding 10 more points to his tally.
Looking ahead, Saint Louis is scheduled to face off against Saint Joseph’s this Friday in an away match, while UMass gears up for a Sunday clash against La Salle.
