Clark tallies 22 points, sinks crucial jumper in Merrimack’s 66-64 victory over Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — In a thrilling basketball matchup on Sunday night, Adam Clark emerged as the star for Merrimack, scoring 22 points and hitting a crucial jumper with just seven seconds remaining. This clutch shot propelled Merrimack to a narrow 66-64 victory over Rider.

In addition to his scoring, Clark contributed significantly in other areas, registering five rebounds, 10 assists, and four steals for the Warriors, who now hold a record of 12-10 overall and 9-2 within the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Teammate Bryan Etumnu supplemented the offense with 12 points, achieving 4 of 8 shooting from the field and 4 of 6 from the free-throw line, while also pulling down seven rebounds and blocking three shots. Matt Becht rounded out the scoring for Merrimack with 10 points, shooting 4 for 11 overall and making 2 out of 9 attempts from three-point range.

On the other side, Zion Cruz topped the scoring charts for the Broncs with 15 points, accompanied by two steals. Rider’s offensive effort also featured 14 points from TJ Weeks Jr. and 11 points along with eight rebounds from Jay Alvarez, bringing the Broncs’ record to 8-14 overall and 4-7 in conference play.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday, with Merrimack set to host Niagara, while Rider will take to the road to face Sacred Heart.
