    LOGAN, Utah — Mustapha Amzil contributed significantly to New Mexico’s 82-63 triumph over Utah State on Saturday evening, putting up 16 points in the game.

    Amzil displayed impressive shooting, making 4 of 6 attempts from the floor, including 2 out of 4 from beyond the arc. Additionally, he was successful on 6 of 7 free-throw attempts, helping the Lobos improve their season record to 18-4, with a conference standing of 10-1 in the Mountain West Conference. Nelly Junior Joseph followed closely behind, scoring 15 points and securing 13 rebounds, showcasing his all-around performance. Donovan Dent also made a notable impact, finishing with 14 points after shooting 5 of 13 from the field and hitting all four of his free-throw attempts.

    For Utah State, Drake Allen topped the scoring chart for the Aggies (19-3, 9-2) with 14 points, complemented by two blocks. Deyton Albury added to the effort with 12 points and made two steals, while Ian Martinez contributed 10 points along with four assists.

    In the first half, Dent scored six points, but New Mexico entered halftime behind at 36-30. However, Amzil played a crucial role in the second half, netting the last six points for New Mexico, which eventually helped the team secure a convincing 19-point victory.
