— On Saturday, Dug McDaniel led the Kansas State Wildcats to an impressive victory over the No. 3 Iowa State Cyclones, scoring 20 points and helping his team achieve an 80-61 upset.

This win marked a significant milestone for the Wildcats (10-11, 4-6 Big 12), as it ended their 15-game losing streak in away games, with 12 of those losses occurring in the Big 12 conference. Kansas State has now secured victories in their last three games, having also defeated previously-ranked No. 23 West Virginia and Oklahoma State.

Joining McDaniel in the scoring were Coleman Hawkins, who recorded 17 points, and Brendan Hausen, who contributed 15 points.

For the Cyclones (17-4, 7-3), this defeat snapped their remarkable 29-game winning streak at home.

Tamin Lipsey matched his season’s best with 20 points for Iowa State, while Curtis Jones and Joshua Jefferson added 14 and 13 points, respectively.

**Highlights of the Game**

The Wildcats achieved a notable feat by defeating a top-five team on the road for the first time since 2017; they had previously accomplished this by defeating then-No. 2 Baylor 56-54 at their venue.

On the other hand, Iowa State struggled with ball control, tying their season-high with 18 turnovers, a problem they’ve faced in consecutive losses.

**Turning Point**

In a late-game surge, the Cyclones attempted to regain control with a 13-0 run. However, a crucial three-pointer from Hausen effectively dashed Iowa State’s hopes for a comeback.

**Noteworthy Statistic**

Despite committing a season-high 22 fouls, the Wildcats were still able to pull off the surprising victory against a top-three opponent on the road.

**Looking Ahead**

Next, Iowa State will host TCU next Saturday, while Kansas State prepares to face Arizona State on Tuesday night.
