BOONE, N.C. — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday, Myles Tate showcased his skills by contributing 25 points to lead Appalachian State to an 80-76 victory over Georgia State.
Tate not only excelled in scoring, but also recorded six assists and three steals, making a significant impact for the Mountaineers, who now hold a record of 13-9 overall and 7-4 within the Sun Belt Conference.
Supporting Tate, Dior Conners displayed impressive shooting, going 6 for 9 from the field, including 4 for 7 from three-point range, adding 18 points to the team’s tally.
CJ Huntley also had a standout performance, finishing the game with 16 points after shooting 7 of 11 and hitting 2 of 4 from the free-throw line. In addition to his scoring, Huntley dominated the boards with 14 rebounds.
On the opposing side, Cesare Edwards was the standout player for Georgia State, scoring 24 points while also recording six rebounds and two blocks.
Malachi Brown provided support with 15 points and three steals, with Toneari Lane adding 11 points to the total as well.
Both teams are looking ahead to their next games scheduled for Wednesday, with Appalachian State set to host Southern Miss and Georgia State preparing to face UL Monroe.
