CHICAGO — The Chicago Sky has announced that they will be facing the Brazilian national team in a preseason WNBA game at Louisiana State University. The match is scheduled to take place on May 2 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Angel Reese, a standout WNBA All-Star who led the LSU Tigers to their inaugural NCAA championship in 2023, is set to take part in the game.

Reese expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming matchup, stating, “I’m very excited the Sky will play a preseason game at LSU. It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me. LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans!”

LSU head coach Kim Mulkey shared her excitement about hosting a WNBA game featuring Reese and the Sky. During her time at LSU, Reese dominated the Southeastern Conference, leading in both scoring and rebounds in her two seasons. This feat made her the first player to achieve that distinction in consecutive years since Wendy Scholtens of Vanderbilt in the 1989-90 season. Mulkey remarked, “Angel played a major role in establishing our program at LSU and I know our fans are going to be excited to have her back in the PMAC. She had such a great rookie season, and we can’t wait to continue to watch her thrive in the WNBA.”

Kamilla Cardoso, a teammate of Reese on the Sky, will be facing the Brazilian national team for the first time. Cardoso, who hails from Montes Claros, Brazil, previously represented her country in the 2024 FIBA qualifying tournament, although the team did not secure a spot for last year’s Olympic Games in Paris.

The Chicago Sky is set to kick off their regular season in the WNBA on May 17 against the Indiana Fever.
