SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — In an exciting matchup on Thursday evening, Scotty Washington led Cal State Northridge to a 78-71 triumph over UC Santa Barbara, delivering a stellar performance with 21 points.
Washington displayed impressive accuracy, shooting 50% from the field with a total of 7 makes out of 14 attempts. His prowess from beyond the arc was particularly noteworthy, as he sunk 4 out of 6 three-point shots and also contributed by going 3 for 4 from the charity stripe. The Matadors now hold a record of 14 wins and 7 losses, alongside a 6-4 standing in the Big West Conference. Supporting Washington’s efforts, Marcus Adams Jr. scored 18 points while Mahmoud Fofana chipped in with 12 points.
On the other side, Stephan D. Swenson was a standout for the Gauchos, scoring 18 points and providing four assists. Jason Fontenet II closely followed with 16 points, adding six rebounds and four assists to his contribution. Cole Anderson also made his mark with 12 points and two steals, helping the Gauchos maintain competitiveness throughout the game.
