In a thrilling matchup on Thursday night, the UL Monroe Warhawks triumphed with a narrow 62-58 victory over the South Alabama Jaguars in Mobile, Alabama.
Tyreese Watson was instrumental in the win, scoring 22 points and contributing six rebounds along with five assists for the Warhawks, who moved to 6-17 overall and 2-8 in the Sun Belt Conference. Coltie Young also made a significant impact by adding 17 points to the team’s total, connecting on 5 of 13 attempts from the field, including 3 of 9 from beyond the arc. His perfect performance on the free-throw line (4 for 4) combined with seven rebounds further solidified the Warhawks’ success.
On the other side of the court, the Jaguars, now standing at 14-8 overall and 6-4 in the conference, were led by Judah Brown’s 21 points. JJ Wheat contributed 12 points along with three steals, while Cantia Rahming offered solid support with nine points and six rebounds.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again on Saturday. UL Monroe is scheduled to visit Troy, while South Alabama will head to play against Louisiana.
