BOONE, N.C. — In an exciting matchup on Wednesday night, Old Dominion edged out Appalachian State with a close score of 78-77, largely thanks to Sean Durugordon’s standout performance.
Durugordon contributed significantly by scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while his free throw in the final moments allowed the Monarchs to establish a crucial four-point lead. This victory improved Old Dominion’s record to 10-12 overall and 6-4 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Supporting him, Robert Davis Jr. also had a solid game, recording 19 points with an impressive shooting performance, hitting 7 of his 12 attempts and making 4 out of 6 three-point attempts.
On the other side of the court, Myles Tate led the Mountaineers by scoring 23 points, which included a three-pointer in the dying seconds of the game. Additionally, he tallied eight assists and blocked two shots, showcasing his versatility. Appalachian State’s performance also featured Alonzo Dodd with 16 points and four assists, along with Jalil Beaubrun, who added 14 points to the Mountaineers’ total.
Looking ahead, both teams are preparing for their upcoming matches scheduled on Saturday. Old Dominion is set to face James Madison, while Appalachian State will be hosting Georgia State.
