Haynes and Johnson guide George Mason to a 58-53 overtime victory against Loyola Chicago

FAIRFAX, Va. — In a closely contested matchup, Jalen Haynes led the way with 14 points, while K.D. Johnson contributed seven crucial points during overtime, propelling George Mason to a 58-53 victory over Loyola Chicago on Wednesday evening.

Haynes also recorded six rebounds for the Patriots, who now hold a record of 16-5 and 7-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Jared Billups contributed 10 points, managing to convert 3 of his 10 attempts from the field, including 1 of 4 from beyond the arc, and he added three free throws out of four taken. Additionally, Billups snagged seven rebounds. Justin Begg was efficient in his shooting, finishing with 10 points on 4 of 6 from the field. With this win, the Patriots have now extended their winning streak to six games.

On the other side, Francis Nwaokorie was a standout for the Ramblers, finishing with 11 points and two blocks. Miles Rubin also made his mark with nine points and three blocks, while Jalen DeLoach provided eight points along with seven rebounds for Loyola Chicago, which now stands at 12-8 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Both teams are set to return to action on Saturday; George Mason will take on Davidson in an away game, while Loyola Chicago will host Saint Joseph’s (PA) at home.
