SUNRISE, Fla. — In an impressive display, Matthew Tkachuk contributed a goal and two assists while Sergei Bobrovsky recorded 30 saves to achieve his second shutout of the season as the Florida Panthers triumphed over the Los Angeles Kings with a final score of 3-0 on Wednesday night.

The Panthers, who were vying for the top spot in the Atlantic Division, were also bolstered by goals from Aleksander Barkov and Sam Bennett. Bobrovsky’s performance marked the 46th shutout of his career.

This matchup was a quick rematch; just a week prior, the Kings had edged out the Panthers in a close 2-1 contest in Los Angeles.

For the Kings, Darcy Kuemper put forth a strong effort, making 36 saves. However, the team is struggling, having lost three consecutive games and seven out of their last ten, with an overwhelming majority of these losses occurring on the road.

Highlighting the game, veteran defenseman Drew Doughty made a comeback after missing the first 47 games of the season due to a broken ankle sustained during the preseason, logging roughly 24 minutes of ice time during his return.

On the other hand, Tkachuk reached a milestone with his seventh game of the season with multiple assists, bringing his total assists to 31.

A pivotal moment in the match came early in the third period when Barkov extended Florida’s lead with a goal during a 5-on-3 power play, marking his 16th point on the power play this season.

Additionally, defenseman Dmitry Kulikov recorded an assist during the first period, commemorating his 1,000th career game. He became the 13th player from the Panthers franchise and the 402nd player in NHL history to achieve this significant milestone.

Looking ahead, the Kings will face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, while the Panthers are set to host the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.
