NEW YORK — Emil Lilleberg, a defenseman for the Tampa Bay Lightning, has been handed a two-game suspension without pay due to his interference against J.T. Compher of the Detroit Red Wings during a game on Saturday night.
This incident resulted in Lilleberg receiving a minor penalty in the second period of the match, which culminated in a 2-0 victory for the Red Wings. The league’s decision regarding the suspension was announced on Monday.
As part of the stipulations outlined in the collective bargaining agreement, Lilleberg is set to forfeit $9,062.50, a sum that will be directed to the players’ emergency assistance fund.
The Lightning are scheduled to play against the Blackhawks at home on Tuesday, followed by a matchup against the Kings on Thursday.
