VITORIA-GASTEIZ, Spain — Celta Vigo managed to end their losing streak in La Liga with a 1-1 draw against Alaves on Monday, thanks to a stunning volley from Pablo Duran in the second half.
Duran showcased his remarkable skill by receiving a pass from just outside the penalty area, lifting it into the air, and then striking a powerful volley that found the back of the net from 20 meters away.
The home team, Alaves, initially took the lead just six minutes into the match when Kike García converted a penalty. The penalty was awarded after a handball incident that was confirmed by VAR. This marked the fourth goal for García in his last two matches.
With this result, Alaves missed an opportunity to achieve consecutive victories in the league for the first time this season. Currently, they sit in 17th place, only one point clear of the relegation zone.
Celta Vigo, on the other hand, has now gone four games without securing a win, maintaining their position at 13th in the league standings.
