TURIN, Italy — On Monday, Brazilian defender Danilo officially parted ways with Juventus after both parties reached a mutual agreement, paving the way for his anticipated return to Flamengo in Brazil.

The confirmation of the termination of Danilo’s contract came shortly after the 33-year-old center back shared a heartfelt video on his Instagram, reflecting on his 5 ½ years with the Italian club.

On the same day, Juventus shared photos indicating Chelsea’s defender Renato Veiga arriving at the club for a medical examination. The 21-year-old Portuguese player is anticipated to join Juventus on a loan deal.

During his extensive 13-year career in Europe, Danilo has achieved remarkable success, securing league titles in four different countries while playing for top clubs such as Porto, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Juventus.

As he heads to Flamengo, Danilo transitions from one team participating in the Club World Cup to another. Flamengo is set to compete in the inaugural 32-team tournament, which kicks off on June 14 in the United States. They have been drawn in a group that includes Chelsea, Leon, and Esperance.

In contrast, Juventus will be competing in a Club World Cup group alongside Manchester City, Wydad, and Al Ain.
