WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — In an exciting matchup on Saturday, Noah Collier was instrumental in leading William & Mary to a 78-73 win over Monmouth, contributing a total of 15 points to the team’s success.
Collier showcased his shooting skills by hitting 6 of 7 attempts from the field and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line, helping the Tribe improve their record to 13-8 overall and 7-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association. Additionally, Gabe Dorsey added 13 points along with eight rebounds, while Matteus Case chipped in 11 points, going 4 for 9 from the floor and sinking 2 of 4 three-pointers.
On the flip side, the Hawks, who now stand at 5-16 and 3-5 in conference play, saw Cornelius Robinson Jr. lead their scoring efforts with 20 points, accompanied by seven rebounds and a pair of steals. Abdi Bashir Jr. also made a significant impact with 18 points and four assists, and Jack Collins rounded out the scoring with 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
The game took a turning point in the second half. Although William & Mary went into halftime trailing 38-33, they ignited a 14-0 run that completely changed the momentum. This run allowed them to take the lead 58-55 with just over eight minutes left in the game, with Case contributing 11 points during that crucial stretch.
Both teams are set to compete again on Thursday, with William & Mary heading to Campbell and Monmouth preparing to face Drexel at home.
