RIVERDALE, N.Y. — In a thrilling encounter on Thursday night, Fairfield clinched an overtime victory over Manhattan, finishing the game with an 87-84 scoreline.

Prophet Johnson was a standout performer for the Stags, scoring 15 points and contributing significantly with 11 rebounds and three steals. Johnson’s impressive versatility was complemented by Kyle Jenkins, who also put up 15 points while shooting an efficient 6 for 8 from the field, including one 3-pointer, and securing six rebounds. Additionally, Braden Sparks added to the team’s tally, finishing the game with 15 points after hitting 4 of his 13 attempts from the field, which included a challenging 4 for 12 from beyond the arc, while also making 3 of his 4 free throw attempts.

On the other side, Will Sydnor shone for the Jaspers, leading the team with 21 points, along with six rebounds and two steals. His effort was supported by Wesley Robinson, who scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Shaquil Bender contributed another 18 points to the score sheet.

Both teams are scheduled to compete again on Saturday; Fairfield will face Merrimack at home, while Manhattan will be looking to bounce back against Mount St. Mary’s in an away contest.
