NEW YORK — In a thrilling contest, Long Island University triumphed over Mercyhurst 72-63 in an overtime showdown on Monday, marking the Sharks’ sixth consecutive win.
Malachi Davis showcased an impressive performance, scoring 23 points, while also contributing nine assists and securing three steals for his team (10-11, 6-0 Northeast Conference). Jamal Fuller was another key player, finishing the game with 20 points, successfully sinking 7 of 15 shots and hitting 4 of 8 from beyond the arc. He also made significant contributions on the boards with 12 rebounds and four blocks.
On the opposing side, Jeff Planutis led Mercyhurst (8-13, 2-4) with 18 points, proving to be a paramount player for the Lakers. Aidan Reichert followed with 15 points and four steals, while Bernie Blunt added 13 points to the overall tally.
