CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals announced the hiring of Scott Peters as the new offensive line coach, along with Michael McCarthy, who will serve as the assistant offensive line coach. This decision was made on Monday.

Peters takes over the position previously held by Frank Pollack, who was part of Zac Taylor’s coaching staff for four seasons between 2021 and 2024. Pollack had also coached the offensive line during Marvin Lewis’ last year with the team in 2018.

Before joining the Bengals, Peters was in charge of the New England Patriots’ offensive line last season. His experience in the AFC North comes from his time as the assistant offensive line coach with the Cleveland Browns from 2020 to 2023.

McCarthy also spent the past season with the New England staff, working as an offensive coaching assistant.

Peters will face the challenge of improving a line that has had difficulty protecting quarterback Joe Burrow. Despite leading the league with an impressive 4,918 passing yards and throwing 43 touchdown passes, Burrow faced significant pressure, being sacked 48 times, which ranked him fifth in the league for most sacks.

Although the Bengals finished the season strong with five consecutive victories, they ultimately fell short of a playoff spot, rounding out their record at 9-8. Zac Taylor still has several coaching positions to fill, including roles for the defensive coordinator, defensive line coach, and linebacker coach.
