ATHENS, Ga. — In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, the No. 12 ranked Kentucky Wildcats secured a 78-64 victory over Georgia on Sunday, powered by standout performances from Clara Strack and Georgia Amoore. Strack led the charge with a remarkable 25 points, while Amoore contributed 24 points to the winning effort.

Strack’s efficiency was highlighted by her making 9 of 19 shots and sinking 6 of 7 from the free-throw line. Additionally, she grabbed 12 rebounds, marking her fourth double-double of the season. Amelia Hassett also excelled, recording a double-double of her own with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Amoore showcased her playmaking abilities with eight assists.

On the opposing side, Georgia’s Trinity Turner scored 19 points, and De’Mauri Flournoy contributed significantly with 19 of the team’s 21 points from the bench.

Kentucky took a commanding lead right from the outset, dominating the first quarter and establishing a staggering 23-4 advantage. The Wildcats’ trio—Amoore, Strack, and Hassett—collectively outperformed the entire Georgia team, which managed to make just one of 16 shooting attempts during that period.

At halftime, Kentucky maintained a comfortable 44-31 lead, although they faced a tougher second half, being outscored by nine points. Georgia showed resilience, closing the gap to 69-57 with only two minutes remaining. Asia Avinger’s layup kept the Bulldogs within striking distance at 73-61 in the final minute. However, Kentucky’s Amoore answered back with a jumper, and Cassidy Rowe capitalized at the free-throw line, making 3 of 4 attempts to secure the victory.

This triumph marks a noteworthy achievement for the Wildcats, improving their record to 16-1 overall and 5-0 in the Southeastern Conference. This strong start represents their fourth-best through 17 games in the history of the program, and it stands as their most successful kickoff to league play since the 2012-13 season when they won their first six conference matches.

Despite a solid win, the 14-point margin ended a streak of six consecutive victories secured by 16 points or more for Kentucky. They will next take on Texas A&M this Thursday, while Georgia, with a record of 9-11 and 1-5 in the SEC, will have a break before their upcoming road game against the No. 13 ranked Oklahoma next Sunday.
