PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday night, Jackson State emerged victorious over Prairie View A&M with a score of 79-70, thanks in large part to the standout performance of Daeshun Ruffin, who contributed 26 points.
Ruffin demonstrated his shooting prowess, connecting on 7 of 14 attempts from the field, including 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. He was perfect from the charity stripe, hitting all 8 of his free throws, helping the Tigers improve their record to 4-13 overall and a strong 4-0 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Furthermore, Keiveon Hunt added to the team’s success with 14 points, completing 4 of 10 field goal attempts and sinking all 6 of his free throws. Shannon Grant also played a pivotal role, scoring 11 points with an impressive shooting performance of 5 of 6 from the field, although he missed 2 of his 3 free throw attempts.
The Panthers fought hard, with Tanahj Pettway leading their effort, pouring in 31 points and managing two steals throughout the game.
