TOWSON, Md. — In a tightly contested matchup, Towson managed to edge out Stony Brook 53-49, thanks in part to a strong performance from Mekhi Lowery off the bench. Lowery’s contribution of 13 points was pivotal for the Tigers, who improved their season record to 10-9 overall and 5-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association. He also recorded six rebounds and three steals, showcasing his versatility on the court.

Tyler Tejada added 12 points for Towson, although he struggled with his shooting, hitting just 4 of 12 attempts from the field and failing to convert any of his four 3-point shots. Nonetheless, he did well from the free-throw line, making 4 out of 5 attempts. Dylan Williamson also had a significant impact, scoring 11 points while shooting 4 of 7 overall, which included two successful 3-pointers out of five attempts.

On the other side, Joseph Octave was the standout performer for the Seawolves with a total of 16 points and six rebounds. Jared Frey matched Octave’s scoring output with another 16 points, while Ben Wight contributed eight points. Unfortunately for Stony Brook, the loss marked their seventh consecutive defeat, dropping their record to 4-15 and 0-6 in the conference.

Lowery’s early scoring was crucial, as he tallied six points in the first half, although Towson found themselves trailing 25-19 at halftime. Both teams are looking to bounce back on Thursday, with Towson set to face off against N.C. A&T at home, while Stony Brook will host Campbell in their upcoming game.
