The New York Islanders’ Maxim Tsyplakov has received a three-game suspension without pay for delivering an illegal check to the head of Ryan Poehling, a forward for the Philadelphia Flyers.

The incident occurred during a game on Thursday night, leading to Poehling exiting the match early in the first period due to an upper-body injury, and he did not return to play. Despite the review of the play, officials decided that it did not warrant a penalty at the time.

As a result of this suspension, the NHL has stated that Tsyplakov will lose $14,843.76 in salary.

In that game, the Flyers emerged victorious with a score of 5-3.

Looking ahead, the Islanders are scheduled to face the Sharks, Blue Jackets, and once again the Flyers in their next three matchups.
